Blueprints AI aims to automate plans, with professional validation

Blueprints AI presents software that generates construction documents from a sketch or a PDF. According to its founders, the plans must still be reviewed and signed by licensed professionals. The claimed compliance therefore does not amount to automatic authorization.

Blueprints AI aims to automate the production of construction documents from a sketch or a PDF. TechCrunch presents the promise of this company founded by Al Drams and Coco Cao, officially incorporated in 2025 in Santa Monica. The rapid generation of compliant plans ready for a permit application remains a capability claimed by the startup.

According to TechCrunch's account, the models were trained on approved plan sets from Drams's design and construction firm. The initial software produces architectural documents. A new version, already being used by early customers according to the article, aims to coordinate more disciplines: architecture, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, plumbing and interior design.

The company says that a design change is reflected across the entire project and checked against local building codes. This coordination could reduce rework across documents, but the article does not allow the reliability of these checks or the time savings actually achieved to be measured.

The founders retain a crucial step: licensed professionals review the documents and affix their seals before a permit application is submitted. Generating the plans and validating them therefore remain distinct steps. For the firms and property owners targeted by the offering, the software's value will depend as much on the consistency of the documents produced as on their ability to be checked and corrected.
