Deezer is working on a control that lets users exclude AI-generated music, according to an announcement made on Tuesday and reported by TechCrunch. The platform says activating it will hide the associated tracks, albums and artists in search results. This is an announced feature whose effectiveness is not established by the available information.
The company presents this option as a response to demand from its subscribers. It cites a survey from last year in which around 45% of its customers wanted to be able to remove AI-generated music from their feeds. This figure is reported by Deezer; it is not an independent measure of how the filter will be used.
The platform also says that in July, AI-generated tracks accounted for more than 50% of daily uploads, averaging 90,000 tracks per day. These data describe uploads to the service. They do not indicate their share of listening.
The issue will therefore be as much about the ability to choose as about the quality of classification. Deezer added detection tools last year, but the article provides no measure of their accuracy. The filtering promise will need to be assessed against the content actually identified and the scope covered within the app.
