Titan OS, the Barcelona-based developer of an operating system for smart TVs, announced $46 million in funding on Wednesday, TechCrunch reports. The deal combines equity and debt, with credit facilities provided by funds and accounts managed by BlackRock, alongside existing investors including Highland Europe and Mangrove Capital Partners.
The company says it now reaches 30 million users, up from 18 million the previous year. This scope also includes activities as a commercial partner for TiVo in certain regions and for Tubi in the United Kingdom. It should therefore not be equated, without qualification, with the installed base of televisions running Titan OS directly.
Its model offers manufacturers revenue after the hardware sale, particularly through free advertising-supported channels and ads displayed in the interface. According to TechCrunch, Philips adopted Titan OS in place of Google TV for its 2026 models.
The funds are intended to support new partnerships and geographic expansion. Titan OS also says it uses AI to make content discovery easier, improve advertising recommendations and segment audiences. These uses are presented by the company; the article provides no independent measure of their effectiveness.
The economic objective is to extend the value of a television beyond its sale. This strategy makes the interface and access to audiences central components of the partnership with manufacturers.
