A dedicated home screen and an Apple TV more readily accessible by voice: reports on Apple’s plans describe several developments centered on Siri. Their potential value lies in controlling devices in the home, but the reported specifications remain unconfirmed and demonstrate no improvement in use.

Reports relayed by TechCrunch and The Verge place Siri at the center of several possible developments in Apple’s smart home offerings. TechCrunch, drawing on information from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, discusses a new device called HomeView as well as updates to the Apple TV and HomePod mini. The Verge separately details possible changes to the Apple TV. These publications describe expected products; they do not constitute an official announcement from Apple.

According to TechCrunch’s account, HomeView would combine a screen, Siri and an A18 chip to allow users to control other connected home devices. Two models are mentioned: one designed to sit on a countertop, the other to be mounted on a wall. This distinction suggests uses suited to different locations in the home. It does not, however, establish which devices would be compatible, which commands would be available or what installation would require.

For the Apple TV, The Verge reports the possibility of a microphone built into the box and a speaker in the remote control. According to this description, the microphone would allow users to call on Siri without speaking into the remote or going through a connected HomePod. The speaker would emit an audible alert to help locate a misplaced remote. The outlet also mentions an A19 chip intended to run Siri’s AI capabilities, without providing any performance measurements.

The overlap between these accounts mainly concerns the role of voice commands and home control. If the reported specifications are confirmed, Apple could offer several access points to connected devices: a device with a screen and a television box more readily accessible by voice. This interpretation remains conditional. The documents do not establish how these devices would work together or whether their presence would actually simplify everyday use.

The functions described must also be distinguished from the questions that remain open. The publications used do not specify how voice requests would be processed, what privacy safeguards would apply or what compatibility limits might exist. Nor do they provide test results. At this stage, the subject is therefore the hardware direction attributed to Apple: bringing Siri closer to domestic spaces through a dedicated screen and new audio components. The practical value of this approach will depend on the confirmed specifications and how the products work.

Several tech leaders adopt Trump’s vocabulary on AI

The Verge reports that several technology leaders are adopting the term super intelligence promoted by Donald Trump. The examples concern product names and public communications. This change in vocabulary does not, by itself, provide any evidence of a change in systems’ capabilities.
